INSTALLATION
(wall expressions, vehicle decals & glass surfaces)
Listed below are some helpful directions on how to install your decals, depending on what surface you will be putting it on. I hope this helps you all out! You can always call me if you have any further questions.
STEP BY STEP DIRECTIONS
(WALL EXPRESSIONS)
1. Make sure the wall surface is clean, smooth and dry.
2. Position Your Vinyl Lettering:
Using a level, or ruler determine the exact place you will lay your vinyl lettering (you can make a small mark with a pencil, this will erase with soapy water). Position your lettering to the upper edge of the marks. Tape the vinyl lettering to keep it in position. Rub over the lettering with a credit card, library card, hand, etc.
3. Remove the Backing Paper:
Flip up the whole quote (the tape should still hold it in place) and slowly peel of backing. Make sure all the lettering adheres to the transfer tape. If it is not adhering lay the vinyl lettering back down and rub again with your credit card, library card, hand, etc. Once removed flip the transfer tape back down onto your surface.
4. Rub the Vinyl Letters/Graphics:
Rub over the vinyl lettering or graphic to securely adhere them to your surface. It is best if you work from the center and rub out (on both sides).
5. Remove the Transfer Paper:
Carefully, beginning at one side, pull back the transfer tape. If you have a second sticker that goes over the first, repeat the same process. It will be more difficult to pull back up the sticker / vinyl lettering so be careful to position it correct and rub the lettering as you pull up the transfer tape.Your quote is ready to enjoy!
HINTS:
Once the backing paper has been peeled off, DO NOT let the transfer tape touch anything but the final surface. Vinyl lettering can be used on almost any smooth surface: walls, wood, metal, cars, mirrors, doors, windows, shelves, baskets, lockers, books, refrigerators, etc. Vinyl Lettering can be arranged anyway you would like. The possibilities are endless.
For textured walls once decal is applied, roll over decal with a tennis ball to get into all the crevices.
Removal Instructions:
To remove vinyl lettering, warm up the vinyl using a hair dryer on a low setting. Peel back the warmed vinyl with tweezers, or fingernails, being careful not to rip or peel too quickly. Lettering cannot be used again. If any glue residue is left on the glass surface simply use either rubbing alcohol or lacquer thinner to wipe away the residue easily.
Cleaning The Surface
Depending on the surface you will be installing your vinyl, there are a few methods of cleaning we will address. This is one of the most important aspects when it comes to applying your vinyl , so make sure the area is as clean as possible.
Installing Vinyl on Glass and Plastic
For glass and plastics one should thoroughly clean the surface using a residue free rag or cloth with a glass cleaner such a sWindex or comparable brand. If areas contain glues or adhesive on the surface, use a razor blade to ensure the area is as clean as possible. Once the glass or plastic surface is cleaned, remove the protective liner from the vinyl and let it sit for a few hours prior to applying your vinyl lettering or graphic. This will ensure air bubbles are less of a factor when applying your vinyl sign to the surface.
Painted & Base Metal Surfaces
Surfaces such as metals should be cleaned with a solvent prior to applying your vinyl letters or graphics. Dry the surface with a lint free cloth before the solvent evaporates. Freshly painted metals should be dry for at least 72 hours prior to applying your vinyl graphics or lettering.
Indoor Walls
Surfaces such as walls may be cleaned with any household cleaner prior to applying lettering. Wipe area clean and dry with a lint free cloth before applying graphics. Freshly painted walls should be dry for at least 72 hours prior to application of the vinyl graphics.
Temperature Variables
The temperature of the surface should be between 45 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit for best results. High humidity (above 90 percent) may effect the application process.
